ABOUT CATE

I know how difficult it is to pick up the phone and ask for help.
I know that finding a therapist who fits your style and values can be challenging.
My goal is to provide a safe context within which clients can develop insight and skills to heal.
For every couple that walks into my office, I see three clients: the husband, the wife and the marriage.
As a child-centered family therapist, I assume that parents/caregivers are the best resource for child healing.
With every individual client, I see their relational story as vital to our work.
All of my therapy is relational.
I am gay affirmative and honor LGBTQ identity while addressing challenged family dynamics.
I have advanced training in EMDR and Discernment Counseling, along with specialties in sexuality, codependence,
dynamics associated with depression, anxiety, trauma, and ADHD.

FAMILY, INDIVIDUAL AND
COUPLE THERAPY

We are inter-connected human beings who do not live or grow in isolation.  All of my therapy, teaching, and supervision focuses on individual health within a relational/familial context.  I have provided couple, adult and child-centered therapy for over 25 years, and I am committed to individual and relational health and wellness.
In my marital therapy, I am practical and skills-based in my initial therapy stratgies a I play an active role in helping couples and step the damage and begin to constructive solve conflicts and grow in compassion and understanding for one another. When the ground work is laid, therapy usually shifts to building intimacy including its emotional, social, familial, sexual and spiritual components which facilitate individual as well as relational healing.
